Since 1982, The American Flag Foundation has sponsored The Annual National Pause for the Pledge of Allegiance – an annual patriotic event to encourage all citizens and communities across the nation to pause and recite the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Fireworks at Oregon Ridge ParkHistorically held at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, and attended by U. S. Presidents, the celebration was moved in 2010 to Oregon Ridge Park in Baltimore County, Maryland (see video above) during the construction of the new Visitors Center.  This year’s Pause for the Pledge returns to Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, and is co-sponsored by the National Park Service.  Families and individuals attend, bringing blankets, chairs, picnic baskets and coolers, and conclude an enjoyable evening under the stars, listening to the crescendos of the 229th Army Band accompanying spectacular fireworks.

Program hours are 6:00 p.m. to dusk.
